COVID-19 Updates
May, 4 2020
Dearest Friends and Patients,
At Borna Family Dental, our number one priority has always been the health and safety of our patients. Often in times of uncertainty, there can be a wealth of misinformation spread, especially in today’s digital age. As a leading healthcare provider in our community, we wanted to reach out and update all of our patients regarding COVID-19, and to let you know the steps we are taking to alleviate any potential concerns.
According to the latest reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other national healthcare providers, the current health risks are minimal for most age groups. We recommend that if you have any underlying, immunocompromised medical conditions, you temporarily hold off or postpone elective dental procedures unless your primary care physician gives you the green light. If you are unsure if you belong in this categoryor what dental procedures are considered “elective”, please call our office and Dr. Borna will advise you.We recognize the uncertainty surrounding this issue and we are committed to monitoring all changes and recommendations provided by the CDC, state and local health organizations, the CDA, as well as the American Dental Association.
At Borna Family Dental, it is our belief that the health of your mouth has an important relationship with the rest of your body. The mouth is a primary entryway into the body and hence, poor oral health can have negative consequences for the entire body. Furthermore, the oral cavity serves as a source for early detection of other medical concerns. It is because of these important scientific facts that we have decided on a soft reopen of Borna Family Dental. Dr. Borna will be seeing and treating patients based on urgency and the staff have been advised to schedule accordingly. The hygiene department will slowly resume their schedules in a couple weeks.
During this soft reopen, rest assured that we are taking all our universal precautions as we always have and have implemented strict protocols to ensure the safety of our staff, patients, and community. We kindly ask that all patients follow our COVID-19 office protocols, which include:
Answer the COVID-19 questions our front office personnel will ask you 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
Wear a mask to our office and only remove your mask before treatment begins and immediately place your mask on after treatment finishes.
Call us when you arrive in the parking lot and we will advise if you can enter. The reason for this is we are trying to limitour waiting room to 2 people at one time to maintain social distancing as much as possible.
Upon entering our office, we will take your temperature and ask you to sign our COVID-19 consent form. If your temperature exceeds 99.6 F (65 years old and up) or 100.4 F, we will reschedule your dental appointment.
Upon entering your treatment room, you will be asked by our assistants or hygienists to wash your hands with soap and rinse your mouth for 1 minute with Peroxide mouth rinse.
You will be given a tissue to have by your side in case you need to cough or sneeze.
Each staff member maintains rigorous personal hygiene standards as well as using gloves, face masks, and face shields at all times. We use Hospital-grade disinfectants across the entire office, with extensive room cleaning after each patient to ensure a safe and clean environment. After each use, all office pens and counters are wiped, and dental instruments receive the highest level of medical sterilization available. In addition to these protocols, our office has installed Medical Grade HEPA Filtration Air Purifiers, which has been tested to remove 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 microns. These processes have always been of utmost importance in our office and will continue to be the standards we uphold for our community.
Again, thank you for being a valued Borna Family Dental patient. We appreciate your continued patience, trust, and confidence. A great deal of care, research, and planning guides our decisions as we continue to evaluate this evolving situation. We have built our reputation by providing high-quality dental care in a compassionate, comfortable and safe environment and look forward to taking care of you at your next scheduled appointment. Together we can overcome these challenging circumstances and continue your path to greater health.
Wishing all of you continued health and strength during this challenging time,
Dr. Linda Borna and Borna Family Dental Team
